The Vegas Hip Hop Dance Trend Continues to Expand Amongst Kids and Adolescents

In the city of Las Vegas different dance genres continue to expand in popularity, one of the most quickly growing trends in the field of dance instruction is Hip-hop. Once considered to be a less disciplined form of dance, contemporary hip-hop has now become an accepted alternative to ballet, tap, or jazz with many parents opting to enroll there kids into Hip-Hop dance curriculums in order to encourage a love of the art form.

Individuals in the field of dance instruction believe that in many ways hip-hop encourages young kids and adolescents who would of normally dismissed the possibility of becoming dancers. “It is a gateway dance genre” Says Dylan Hayward a professional hip-hop instructor in Las Vegas. “Not only is it a creative outlet for high-risk teens but is a great way to get your kids off the couch and participating in something that is much bigger then themselves” He goes on to explain how hip-hop culture has been immensely misunderstood by most parents, “It is extremely positive! It isn’t about sexuality or aggression like some people think, in fact it is the exact opposite hip-hop is about confidence, strength and self-acceptance. Anyone can do hip-hop, you don’t have to be in perfect shape, hip-hop gets you in perfect shape.”

Why Parents Choose Hip-hop

The reason why many kids are more likely to be interested in hip-hop than any other dance form is because it is instructed to music that they know. This is why hip-hop classes continue to become a popular after-school activity and something that every child wants to participate in, it is the “cool dance class”. However, parents are more interested in the education and health benefits of having a child enrolled in a extra curricular activity. They are choosing hip-hop because they don’t have to fight with their kids to get them to go. They love it and can’t wait to practice their routines.
